About
Our Story
Aya, the fern, is an Adinkra symbol that represents endurance, resilience, and growth. At Aya Health & Wellness, we draw from ancestral wisdom and evidence-based care to create a pathway of holistic wellness for Black women leaders.
Founded by Dr. Khalima Thompson, a licensed clinical psychologist and Associate Professor at UC Davis, Aya brings together expertise in racial trauma, wellness coaching, and somatic healing to cultivate joy and restoration. Drawing on wellness techniques and tools from Dr. Thompson’s signature racial trauma treatment, Integrate Racial-Trauma Treatment Protocol, Aya’s self-paced course, coaching, and wellness tools focus on using traditional wellness practices and cognitive/neurobehavioral techniques to process and manage the ongoing stress from racial trauma. Here, we want Black women to feel seen, to feel safe, and to feel held.
